i decided to do my bit to boost the member count. i've been lurking for a while so i know this place needs to grow. and i'd like to have more lgbt friends, online and IRL, but unfortunately i can't stand bar crowds and shallow dating sites...

i live in the far south of sweden and i would count as bisexual if anyone would want to label me (but basically i just don't care that much what package a person comes in - i'm more interested in the content). check out my info page if you want to know more about me.

I don't get the whole argument against same-sex couples getting the right to be considered as adoptive parents. (It is indirectly being voted over here (Norway) 9th of november, together with real same-sex marriage).

The thing is, the only argument that people listen to, is that the children may be teased/bullied by other children for having gay parents.

Problem one: Research done on the subject shows that it doesn't happen a lot (locally). While politicians like to talk as if same-sex couples do not have children, that is just not the way it works, and not talking about research does not usually make it go away (though ignoring things is an effective way to suppress information).

Problem two: It legitimates the teasing and bullying of children. It takes the responsibility from the ones who does the bullying by saying that there's a reason for doing what they do! How grown up people can even say such a thing...

I wrote this in my journal yesterday, and then today remembered that it might be suitable for this community... not that I think you need convincing... :oP

I'm not sure if there is anyone else from the area here but I just moved to Aalborg, Denmark and everyone is so fuckin gorgeous! It's so hard to tell who is gay and who is straight though because guys all dress like gay Americans and women are just so gorgeous, I just want them to be gay. I <3 Denmark!

What is the Scandinavian gay scene like? Are there very many? Are most Scandinavians homophobic...etc..?
Are they racist? because I bet there's not a lot of diversity there either.

Greetings and hallucinations!
Hi, I'm Mickey. I'm a 28-year-old polyamorous bisexual, married to a Dane and living in Aarhus. I truly don't know much about the les/bi scene in Aarhus, so if anyone knows anything, I'd love to hear it!

Hi everyone

I realize that this community is new and probably does not enough people to answer my question yet...

But... I am moving to Aalborg, Denmark in about a week. I'll be going to Aalborg University to get my graduate degree. I was wondering what the gay scene is like there? I did some research and I found this gay club called Pan Aalborg - Bar n Night Club that's on the street where I will live. Has anyone been there before?
Also, there is supposedly this gay group at Aalborg University called queer but i got the impression they only have like 6 people and honestly I am not sure if they even still exist.

So if someone can tell me more about gay population there and how acceptive people are, I would appreciate it.

New here

Well, I'm not sure I'm allowed to be here, 'cause I'm not from Scandinavia, but I'm very interested in the place, and I'm hoping to go to Finland for a few months next year. If that doesn't qualify me to be here, let me know and I'll leave. :)

Anyway, I'm Maaike, I'm bi, and I live in the Netherlands. I'm turning 24 soon, and I'm a student in University [doing History and Cultural Studies]. If there's anything else you want to know, you know where to find me. :)

I was searching LJ database for queer communities but I failed to find one in one of the Scandinavian countries and I live in Denmark. So I asked myself, why not start one? So I did. :)

This is the community to discuss lgbt issues, meet gay/lesbian/bi/trans people from Scandinavia, and pretty much talk about anything else that's on your mind.

Feel free to introduce yourself and welcome to the community!
